Pre-Diabetes Issues for Those Who Live in Florida
What Is Pre-diabetes?
Pre-diabetes is a serious health condition that affects over 80 million American adults. Those with pre-diabetes are at high risk of developing type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and stroke. Our innovative approach addresses the underlying factors by using insulin as a hormone rather than solely as a drug.
Insulin is a critical hormone your body needs to regulate blood sugar levels. It acts like a key, allowing sugar to enter the cells for energy use. With pre-diabetes, your cells stop responding normally to insulin, leading to an abnormal tolerance from the excess insulin your pancreas produces. Eventually, the pancreas becomes overworked and can’t keep up, which can quickly lead to a slow metabolism, weight gain, loss of energy, and ultimately, type 2 diabetes. Diabetes can cause many lifelong complications and ailments.
Symptoms To Watch For: Do I have Pre-diabetes?
Pre-diabetes is not always easy to detect. Millions of Americans unknowingly live with pre-diabetes for years with very few to no symptoms. Those over the age of 45, especially those who are overweight, have a family history of diabetes, are less active, or have experienced gestational diabetes during pregnancy, are at high risk for developing or being diagnosed with pre-diabetes and are encouraged to get their blood sugar levels tested by a physician.
