Diabetic Neuropathy Can Be Hard To Live With in Florida
What Is Diabetic Neuropathy?
Diabetic neuropathy is a type of nerve damage that occurs due to prolonged high blood sugar levels, which result in excess inflammation in the body. This condition most commonly affects the legs and feet but can also impact the arms, abdomen, and back. Many describe it as a tingling, numbness, or burning pain.
Symptoms To Watch For: Do I Have Diabetic Neuropathy?
Neuropathy can be caused by multiple factors. Diabetic neuropathy, however, is specifically related to diabetes and the effects of prolonged high blood sugar levels. If you’ve been diagnosed with diabetes and experience any of the following, you may have diabetic neuropathy:
- Tingling in the legs, feet, arms, abdomen or back.
- Numbness or pain in the legs, arms, abdomen, or back.
Why is Diabetic Neuropathy Considered Dangerous?
The nerve damage caused by diabetes can lead to more serious problems than just pain or a lack of feeling. Losing sensation in different parts of your body can desensitize you to injuries or issues that would otherwise be noticeable. For example, losing feeling in your feet can cause loss of balance and lead to falls, resulting in broken bones and wounds. If you were to cut or wound yourself in a part of your body with nerve damage, you might not notice it immediately, which could lead to poor healing and infection. In more serious cases, infections can be life-threatening. Diabetic neuropathy is a serious condition.
The Good news...
If you suffer from diabetic neuropathy, there is hope. Our innovative approach, which includes Physiologic Insulin Resensitization (PIR), has been effective for many patients with diabetic neuropathy. Unlike basic neuropathy treatments, our PIR treatment is designed to address the underlying factors of diabetic neuropathy. PIR therapy helps the body produce higher levels of ATP (cellular energy), which supports faster healing and the ability to regenerate and repair tissues. By addressing the metabolic imbalances in your body, we aim to reduce the unnecessary inflammation causing the damage. To learn more about how others have managed and even improved their diabetic neuropathy, call today to schedule a consultation.
